It is used today for networking electronic devices together, mostly laptops and PDAs. A Wi-Fi Hotspot is the area within the range of a wireless router that computers such as laptops and PDA's can connect to for access to the internet. Usually found by compiled lists, a sign, or a Wi-Fi Finder, hotspots can range in price for access from free to an hourly or monthly access fee. Several businesses, such as coffee houses, have setup Wi-Fi hotspots so that their customers can connect to the internet to do things like check e-mail, surf the web, or even connect to the computers back at the office to be able to access information.
